Why Urdu PDFs are hard to convert
Urdu is written right to left, its letters change shape depending on their position in a word, and printed Urdu is usually set in the slanted Nastaliq style. Generic converters often return broken letters, reversed word order or text that cannot be edited at all.
Dilraf PDF reads the page with an AI vision model that handles Urdu script and Nastaliq print, then builds the Word file with correct right-to-left paragraphs.
What you get from an Urdu conversion
- Urdu paragraphs set right to left, with punctuation and numbers in the right place.
- Headings, bullet lists and tables kept as real Word elements.
- Logos, seals and photos kept as pictures while the text stays editable.
- Mixed Urdu and English on the same page.
Use a proper Urdu font in Word
The converted file uses a standard font so it opens everywhere. For the classic Urdu look, install a Nastaliq font such as Noto Nastaliq Urdu (free on Google Fonts) or Jameel Noori Nastaleeq, then in Word press Ctrl+A and choose that font.
Tips for accurate Urdu OCR
- Scan at 300 DPI, flat and evenly lit.
- Check names, numbers and dates carefully. Small dots and diacritics (zer, zabar, pesh) can be missed.
- If your PDF lets you select text but pasting it gives gibberish, it uses an old font encoding. Print it to an image PDF or take screenshots, then upload that: it will be read as a scan.
- Always proofread important documents before you rely on them.
Urdu PDF to Word: frequently asked questions
Can it read Nastaliq Urdu?
Yes. The recognition model reads printed Nastaliq as well as simpler Naskh-style Urdu. Quality still depends on how clear the scan is, so proofread the result.
Is the text really right to left in Word?
Yes. Urdu paragraphs are marked right to left, so alignment, punctuation and numbers behave the way you expect when you keep typing.
Will tables and bullet points survive?
Yes. Tables become real Word tables and bullet points become real lists.
Is it free for Urdu documents?
Yes. There is no signup and no watermark.
